NIAGARA FALLS, ON…The Professional Hockey Players’ Association (PHPA) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Vizual Edge, the leading online vision training program, that makes Vizual Edge the Official Vision Evaluation and Training Technology Partner of the PHPA.
Backed by over 20 years of data and research, Vizual Edge’s online training platform, the Edge Trainer, combines 3D technology to sharpen neural pathways between the eyes and brain. Over 80% of sensory information is visual, and hockey is one of the most visually-demanding sports that requires elite processing skills to succeed at the highest level. The Edge Trainer program is designed to improve the speed, coordination and efficiency of an athlete’s core visual and cognitive skills, all within 15 minutes of training on any iPad or computer. Similar to weight training, Vizual Edge tailors each athlete’s training program based on their initial assessment to target deficiencies and ensure all core visual processing skills are improved over time. The ‘Game Day’ mode is an athlete-favorite that allows players to warm up their visual system in under 10 minutes, prior to stepping on the ice. Through consistent use, athletes can anticipate improvements in their tracking, reaction speeds, decision-making, accuracy levels and more!
As part of the partnership, Vizual Edge will provide PHPA Members and Alumni with preferred subscription rates on all plans, along with opportunities for coaches to incorporate the Edge Trainer program in various capacities. A portion of all sales from PHPA Members and Alumni will be contributed towards the PHPA Alumni Assistance Program by Vizual Edge. Vizual Edge will also become a presenting partner of the PHPA Annual Meeting of Player Representatives, where all attendees will receive a demonstration and comprehensive visual skills evaluation.
“This partnership is truly beneficial for our Members who strive to advance to the next level of the sport. Several of our Members are already using the Vizual Edge training program and have seen measurable results and improvements,” said PHPA Executive Director, Larry Landon. “I would like to thank Vizual Edge for the support and assistance they are providing to our current players and Alumni Network.”
“We’re thrilled to establish this partnership with such a player-centric organization like the PHPA,” said Alex Kikos, CEO of Vizual Edge. “Visual and cognitive training are typically the most overlooked aspects to an athlete’s training regimen, yet play a vital role in performance. We’re proud to align ourselves with a group like the PHPA who recognize the importance of this type of training and are eager to join us in the pursuit of helping athletes maximize their potential!”
